One of the best things about being a writer is the amazing friends you get to meet along the way.

I’ve been a part of a small group on twitter self-dubbed the #6amAusWriters for a while now, and it has been such a privilege to get to know the amazing women who are involved.

We celebrate our successes, report on daily targets, commiserate when we get rejected and share each other’s posts. I’ve learned so much about self-publishing, queries, marketing and the reality of the publishing industry just through showing up and chatting with these guys every single day.

For months now I have been watching with interest as the talented L.A. Webster has shared snippets of her book, Greenhaelan. Her writing is exquisite and concise and her love of all things botanical bleeds from the page.

I’ve had the privilege of reading an ARC of the book itself this past week and, let me tell you, it’s amazing! The characters are breathed to life effortlessly – whether in modern-day Australia or in the enchanted Algarth – and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Today her beautiful cover is being revealed (designed by Katya Dibb) and I’m so pleased to be able to show it to you.

Self-employed gardener Sara Martin has known from childhood that gardens are enchanted places. But she never expected the magic to be literal.

Miraculously swept away to a landscape dying in the grip of an ecological disaster, Sara discovers that the enchantment is as real as the danger. And when a forbidden healing power manifests in her, she is forced to question everything she has built her life on.

Uncertain how far she can trust her outlaw companions, pursued by an enemy intent on her destruction, Sara must decide how much she is willing to risk for a place and a people that are not her own.

And she will be forced to face the question: what is the price for choosing a safe, little life?

This brilliant debut is being published on 20 February 2020 and you won’t want to miss it!
